Unimi

The University of Milan was officially founded on 8 December 1924, after a period of “gestation” begun in 1923 by Luigi Mangiagalli, the founder and first Rector of the University of Milan. Its headquarters are located in Via Festa del Perdono, in the Renaissance building of Ca’ Granda, commissioned by the Duke of Milan Francesco Sforza.

Today ‘la Statale’ is the largest university in Lombardy: multidisciplinary, free, and a centre of excellence for research and international relations.

This year it celebrates its first centenary in constant interaction with the physical, social, and cultural space in which it lives.
